20 Year Celebration

On Saturday, 21 September 2019 we met to celebrate JoshGen’s 20th birthday. That night we took a stroll down memory lane, watching a video that captured some of our significant milestones – with hearts burning with gratitude at all that God has done, and is still doing in the lives and hearts of His church!

Take a look at some of the hi-lights from the past 20 years, below.

24 Jan - First official Joshua Generation Church meeting at Andrew’s house (Andrew, Emma, Melanie, Julie, Aiden, etc)
Moved to Big Bay life saver clubhouse
Moved to Leibrandt van Niekerk Community Hall
May - Russell and Jenny Fraser made first deacons
January - Russell Fraser ordained as the first elder in Joshua Generation Church.
Bought land in Sunningdale.
Sept - Russell Fraser became the first full-time elder.
Nov/ Dec - Mike Davies and Michael d'Offay came onto eldership.
Joshua Generation Church saints built our Sunningdale venue.
Sept - Ikhaya Le Themba started by Ian and Theresa Richardson
March - Moved into our Sunningdale building.
Jan - Michael and Adrienne d’Offay were planted out to Oudtshoorn with a small group of saints at the end of 2004 - this congregation later joined Joshua Generation Church again and became our congregation meeting in Oudtshoorn.
First multi-site congregation planted in Durbanville. Durbanville AM was first led by Russell Fraser.
October – Joshua Generation Church left NCMI.
Nov - Sunningdale multisite PM congregation started first led by Philip and Marli van der Westhuizen. Handed over to Russell in March 2010.
Joshua Generation Church meeting in Melkbosstrand planted out of Sunningdale. First led by Morne and Erina van der Walt.
Joshua Generation Church meeting in the City Bowl planted out of Sunningdale, as a community, led by Julian and Chantel Goldswain. Ryan and Lelani Kingsley later led the congregation that grew from this small community.
New Life, led by John and Christa de Beer, was the first church to join Joshua Generation Church.
Aug – Joshua Generation Church meeting in Dunoon was planted and first led by Donovan Carlton, along with Neville Sandama.
May - Kingdom Faith led by William and Pam Marais were the second church to join Joshua Generation Church and they became our Joshua Generation Congregation meeting in Edgemead AM.
May - Grace Family Church, led by Richard and Imelda Gordon, joined with our congregation meeting in Durbanville AM.
June - Our congregation meeting in Milnerton was planted and led by Kim and Lorene Muller. This was later closed down in Feb 2013.
July – Our congregation meeting in Brackenfell was planted by Stephan and Debbie van Zyl.
Oct – Living Stones Mossel Bay, led by Deon and Kim Delport, joined Joshua Generation to become our first congregation meeting in the Southern Cape. The Delports then moved to our congregation in the City Bowl.
Nov – Chad and Nikky Lahana were sent to lead our congregation meeting in Mossel Bay.
July - Constantiaberg led by Duncan and Rose Barsom joined Josh Gen and became JG Constantia, later reverted to JG Wynberg (Chris & Sarah Lewis)
Oct – Swellendam Christen Sentrum led by Len and Hetti Deyzel joined Joshua Generation and became JG Swellendam
15 June – Four12 Started, first meetings held at Sunningdale
Feb - Edgemead PM planted out of Sunningdale by Adam and Vanessa Hellyer
March – First International Four12 Conference South Africa
Sept – First Four12 Conference Isle of Man
Oct - His Love led by Ruan and Ina Slabbert and Timothy Ministry Training joined
Jan - Stellenbosch planted and led by Richard and Imelda Gordon.
May – JoshGen Harare planted. Led by Neville and Georgina
June - Stephan and Debbie van Zyl were sent to take over JoshGen Oudtshoorn.
Feb - FOR SA started
George planted out of Mossel Bay. Led by Bennie van As.
Feb - Wellington PM planted
Feb - Durbanville PM was planted and led by Jaco and Erica Erasmus. It started as an outreach congregation in Soet Bistro.
Feb - Gerrit and Cherie Loots planted Kingdom Community Church in Richards Bay
March - Somerset West planted out of Stellenbosch congregation by Richard and Imelda Gordon
May - Greenpoint (Hellenic Club) planted out of City Bowl. Led by Neil ad Taryn Greig
June – Willowmore planted, led by Callie and Karien Wannenberg
Aug - Heartbeat led by Anthony Tredoux joined JoshGen Brackenfell
Oct - Jaco and Erica Erasmus from Durbanville PM were sent to Namibia to lead My Family Church taking over from Andries-Louise Botes.
Jan - Unity Life in Bloemfontein was planted by HJ and Johanri Nel.
Feb – Khayelitsha planted out of Dunoon. Led by Lovemore and Laura Tom.
